Sharon,
chartered on August 17, 1761, is located off Exit 2 from I-89, and
on Rt. 14 between the larger towns of South Royalton and
Hartford (White
River Jct.) and part of Windsor County. Sharon claims the birthplace of
Joseph
Smith,
founder of the Mormon Religion.
Sharon boasts its own elementary school,
which is the
pride of the community. However, Grades 7-12 are tuitioned to the school
of their choice, usually either South
Royalton, Hartford, or the
Sharon Academy. The population according to the 1990 census is
1,211. Downer 4-H Camp
provides educational summer recreation for many kids. If you're
