Bill and his wife Helen moved to Brookfield in 1987 after a career as general manager of the largest turf farm in New England. They soon started Liberty Orchard which is still a successful pick your own apple orchard. When they sold the orchard in 2006 they moved to Williamstown, Bill had to leave the Brookfield Selectboard after being elected to 5 consecutive terms. During that time he also kept a herd of beef cattle and was a director of Central Vermont Board of Realtors. Helen is an accomplished quilter and rug hooker. Both are avid gardeners.
