Welcome to Bethel

The unique character of the Town of Bethel has remained more or less unchanged over the years, just like the clear waters of the 3rd Branch of the White River which flows around it.

The first town charted in the new state of Vermont on December 23, 1779, Bethel is perhaps most famous for it's spectacular "Bethel White Granite".  This granite has been called the most prized white granite in the world.  It's uncommon strength and durability were just some of the reasons why this granite was chosen to be used for the Union Station in Washington, D.C., the Wisconsin State Capital Building and the Western Union Building in New York City.

A town rich in history, Bethel has been able to keep its link with the past while continuing its growth into the present and looking toward the future.
